Drums

 In the workshop, you will learn everything from how to hold drumsticks to playing songs, along with the necessary technique to avoid injuries and achieve a good sound. The workshop is led by Professor Matías Latrach, who has formal studies in drums at the Escuela Moderna de Música. He has toured the country and abroad, as well as performed in recording studios and on television channels.

Ballet

The workshop has been designed to harness the educational and formative potential of dance in its various expressions, complementing and developing motor activities, as well as contributing to the integral development of girls and boys, exercising coordination, agility of movements, improving their self-esteem and teamwork skills.

Urban Skating

Urban skating is a recreational activity and also a sport. It helps develop balance and maintain body harmony and postural control through movements and exercises. Each participant must have suitable skates (roller or inline) for their age and the necessary protection gear (helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads).

Artistic Roller Skating

This workshop requires multiple technical and artistic components, such as skills, choreography, musical accompaniment, costumes, and even scenery, elements that make it a highly attractive sport. It promotes body expression and the development of motor skills such as balance and coordination.

Circus

This workshop aims to teach children, in a playful and relaxed environment, the various techniques of the circus, such as clown routines, body balance, aerial acrobatics, juggling, among others. The goal is to develop skills such as balance, fine motor skills, stretching, strength, coordination, and personality.

Mini Tennis

Mini tennis aims to develop basic tennis skills in children, as well as being playful, fun, and easy to learn through games that are played to achieve basic tennis strokes and mastery of the racket.

Literary Magazine Senior Section

This workshop is designed to guide students in creating a student literary magazine that reflects both individual creativity and the culture and interests of the Senior Section.

Lettering

The aim of this workshop is to learn how to draw letters. Any student can delve into this art form, and having good handwriting is not necessary to engage in lettering. The idea is to elevate writing to an artistic level, allowing for the creation of posters, signs, and artwork, among many other expressions.

Chess (Primary-Middle-Senior Section)

In this workshop, pupils will learn and practice chess in all its forms: opening, half chess, and finals. They will learn basic strategies and tactics, enhancing their intellectual development. The players formed at this stage will eventually represent the school in various tournaments throughout the year.

Code Club

In Code Clubs, children work on a variety of projects involving the creation of games, animations and web pages. In order to create these, the children will be introduced to algorithms using Scratch, and the language of html and CSS, all which are key to understanding how websites and their features were first created.

Japanese Anime

The objective of this workshop is to learn about the history of Japanese animated films (origins, movies, prominent short films) and identify the common characteristics of this visual art form (themes, graphics and music, among others).

Yoga and Mindfulness

 This activity is similar to what is known in England, Finland, Canada and other parts of the world as the subject of Happiness, created to control the stress, mental health and frustration that a system focused on success and grades provokes in pupils. Even in Harvard this subject is the first to fill its quotas. Its only purpose is to help pupils in their development as human beings, helping them to face the problems and pressures of today´s world, through yoga and meditation.

Banda

This is a practical workshop where pupils will learn to interpret a varied repertoire as a group, and will develop and exercise their skills using different instruments, developing both rhythm and melody. The Music Band workshop allows pupils to explore their creativity while learning to use tools with which to express themselves through music together with their classmates. The final product is a high-quality music presentation and the possibility of taking part in the Primary and Middle-Senior Musical as a performer. Requirements are being familiar with the basic use of an instrument, taking it to school for each session, and being motivated to practice at home.

Drama

The theatre workshop introduces pupils to a wide range of theatre experiences and plays (as well as cinema and television, as appropriate), while preparing them for an informed and enthusiastic commitment to art in the contemporary world. This will enable them to practice both drama and life skills, and develop their confidence, imagination, and creativity, working as a team.

STEAM Workshop & CODE

Workshop that seeks the integration of STEAM disciplines (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) with coding, using gamification as a teaching methodology. This program is designed to provide students with a deep understanding of how programming is applied and enhances the fields of STEAM, fostering the development of essential skills for the 21st century.

Overall Objective: To develop comprehensive competencies in STEAM and coding, through gamification and collaboration, to foster innovation, critical thinking, and practical application of knowledge in interdisciplinary projects.

Annual Budget per Student, if necessary: $60,000. Annually.

Unit Presentations:

  1. Introduction to Programming: Introduction to programming, algorithms, and block-based programming. Creative projects to apply concepts.
  2. Code Adventures: Exploration in other languages through gamified programming challenges on a platform and small projects.
  3. Web Creation: Introduction to web design with HTML and CSS, and enhancement of websites with JavaScript.
  4. Creative Electronics with Arduino: Experimentation with Arduino, construction of circuits, and electronic projects.

Art with recycling

The objective of this activity is to show the potential of recyclable resources and the ability to transform everyday objects using creativity and imagination. Transversely, these activities strengthen pupils’ environmental awareness, promoting the protection and good use of the resources around us.

Cricket

Although cricket is little known in Chile it is one of the most popular sports in the world. Children who participate in the extracurricular activity will learn three distinct skills: batting, bowling, and fielding - all of which are transferable to other sports. As cricket is the original fair play sport, children will be encouraged to support their teammates (boys and girls) and respect their opponents.

Taekwondo

Korean martial art by which people train both physically and mentally. Lessons take place in an atmosphere of discipline and respect. At this age, pupils still need to improve their coordination, and they begin to work with memorisation which they master through combined movements. There is greater emphasis on moral values, learned by means of examples and games specifically oriented towards these goals. Pupils are better prepared to acquire physical techniques and they are able to understand the values of Taekwondo, which are explained to them verbally. They are then capable of carrying out missions such as showing at home and at school positive attitudes that are later discussed in class. These lessons of respect and discipline motivate them to perform these gestures as a natural form of behaviour.

Bricks 4 Kidz

Bricks 4 Kidz classes provide an extraordinary atmosphere for children, where they learn, build, and play with LEGO® bricks. Programmes are built around pre-designated plans, designed by engineers and architects, with exciting themes such as space, inventions, famous buildings, nature, and many more, offering children the chance to solve problems while understanding how things work.

Embroidery with Lettering

In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to explore their creativity while learning two fascinating artistic techniques: embroidery and lettering. We will use a variety of tools such as coloured markers, brushes, and coloured pencils to bring their designs to life. Additionally, they will learn special techniques to make their letters stand out, such as shading, embossing effects, and colour combinations. Regarding embroidery, they will learn different stitches and techniques to embellish their lettering designs.

Japanese Karate

In this workshop, children will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the fascinating world of Karate, an ancient martial discipline originating from Japan. Throughout the sessions, they will learn the fundamental techniques as well as the values and principles that accompany it, such as respect, discipline, and self-confidence. Participants will learn the basic movements of Karate, including strikes, kicks, blocks, and stances. Additionally, they will explore the importance of concentration and proper breathing, key elements for success in this discipline.

Cross-stitch Embroidery

Embroidery is an activity that benefits individuals in many ways, particularly children and young people. It helps develop and reinforce creativity, fine motor skills, concentration, organization, perseverance to finish the work they start, and provides tranquility.

Let's learn to embroider! We'll create beautiful and entertaining cross-stitch designs. Once embroidered, you can transform them into cushions, cases, wallets, murals/pictures, carpets, and more; they are small works of art.

It's a manual activity that will remain with children and young people for a lifetime. I will teach you to work wonders with your hands.
